Too Many Lyrics.

Only the first verse of "He's Got the Whole World in his Hands' was necessary.

The rest was just padding. Why mention the brother, the sister and the little bitty baby, when they've all been covered in the first four lines? If God has every aspect of the planet resting on His palm, there's no need to break things up into their constituent parts. If you do, the song will be never-ending.

Modern hymns often don't stand up to scrutiny. Take 'The Magic Penny', for example, which implies that spending money leads to greater solvency than saving it. That's not sound financial advise: it would only work if you made a shrewd investment. And don't get me started on 'The Trees of the Field Shall Clap Their Hands'. That's wrong on every level.
