BoJo Filter.

For the love of God, we can't end up with Boris Johnson as Prime Minister; the man is a self-serving, self-interested ignorant shit of the highest order, who puts the 'in' in 'inept', and his bumbling jokey persona is a facade developed to mask the calculated conniving of an ambitious manipulator. If people vote for that then we're in deeper cack than I thought; there is no way a man like BoJo should be the spokesman for our country. To be fair, there aren't many who are suitable for the job if you push Johnson to one side. Michael Gove? NO. Andrea Leadom? NO. Jacob Rees-Mogg? Christ Almighty, NO; I can't bear to type their names, let alone countenance them in a position of power. I know Theresa May wasn't great by any stretch of the imagination, but as both Kylie and Sonia put it, 'Better the Devil You Know', which is sage advice when most of the contenders could make a case for being Beezelbub himself. I also don't see how a change ...

Brexshit.

Watching today's PMQs and becoming aware of the latest game Theresa May was playing to try and get her Brexit deal through made me furious. It's no secret that the process has been catastrophic. Lies and misrepresentation of what the public wants have been rife. Across Parliament, politicians have scored points for themselves with no regard for the repercussions, and frankly, this behaviour is reprehensible and irresponsible and makes me sick. It was one thing to hear May break the news to the House of the impractical brevity of her requested extension to Article 50, but a whole other to hear her castigate everyone bar herself for the holdup in tonight's statement. Her reframing of the events of the past few months to paint herself in a positive light is purely Machiavellian; so much so, she may as well have vanished from her lectern in a puff of smoke. There's nothing more angering that witnessing politicians tell us what we want without consulting us, and yet t...

Fun, Fun, Fun til Your Daddy Takes the EU Away.

Just when it seemed coverage had reached saturation point, the Beach Boys have weighed in on Brexit. I’m surprised it was the band’s metaphorical Great White Chief who felt the need to express his thoughts on the UK’s most contentious subject, when most of his interviews over the past twenty years have been monosyllabic at best; this was not without reason as Wilson had a tough upbringing before being thrust into the intensely pressured world of writing and arranging the majority of his band’s key material alone; a situation so stressful he literally took to his bed for years, having an impact he still struggles with to this day; does this sound familiar, Theresa? While his interest in Brexit is initially a shock, if you flick through his back catalogue, you soon realise the clues were there all along, from his anthem on a utopian post-Europe vision ‘Wouldn’t it Be Nice?’ to his song about a second referendum, called ‘Do it Again’. One of his most beautifu...

Eton Mess.

I’m not going to mince my words, because I don’t think it’s necessary: Jacob Rees-Mogg is full of shit. I don’t know what makes the quasi-Edwardian bond villain think he’s spokesman for the nation and Chief Righter-of-wrongs within the Tory Party (and saver of Brexit, which is an impossibility in-and-of itself), but his confidence is misplaced; the idea that a man who'd conceivably wear a stovepipe hat about the house to be casual is likely to win over the country with his rhetoric is about as plausible as me portraying Richard Pryor in a Richard Pryor biopic. (By which I mean, “slim to none".) It was while reading an article today on the BBC News website that Rees-Mogg got my goat (and sacrificed it to Beelzebub, drinking its blood in the process for he looks the sort). The piece - which inevitably covered Mogg's attempt to gather the right amount of letters expressing no confidence in Theresa May to trigger a Tory leadershi...

Brexit, Persued by a Bear.

Today has definitely been a day to be frustrated with many of the main players in UK politics for their duplicitous conniving. For the day to start with the resignation of Dominic Raab - the latest Brexit Secretary to go, following the loss of the gurning, giggling git David Davis in similar circumstances - the morning after the Cabinet had supposedly got behind the proposed draft EU withdrawal agreement, was a definite act of cuntishness of the highest regard, setting about a chain of events that only added to the chaos. Like many of the people who are so keen to distance themselves from the actual negotiations of a Brexit deal without offering any viable altenative (Davis, Boris and Jo Johnson and Rees-Mogg, not to mention Gove and Leadsom who dropped out of the leadership race with Boris too, rather than be tarnished by being connected with the process) Raab was thinking only of his own career, and trying to score some personal damage-limitation...

Give a Man a Soapbox.

You may have missed it, but a General Election took place yesterday. Theresa May may have wished she'd missed it, at least. I didn’t stay up to watch the coverage as I was meant to be gigging tonight, but I have to admit my first thought on checking the BBC News website when I woke up to see a photo of May’s disappointed-looking face below a headline about near-certainty of a hung parliament was, “Good.” It’s what she deserved for attempting to pick the moment she thought the Tories were invincible compared to Corbyn to call an election solely for her party's political gain, and screw the imminence of the Brexit negotiations. What does it matter that we only have two years to work through an intricate administrative process that's surely destined to take longer? Why not throw in a snap election before, to eat into the precious time needed and create a chaotic fallout? Like much of the country, I turned to Twitter to voice my une...

A Lovely Day to NOT VOTE TORY.

I attempted a little subliminal messaging on Twitter this morning to influence my small collection of followers, but I don’t know if it worked. "If you build it, he will come." It would be bloody lovely if it did, as I’d like Theresa May’s smug ‘calling a General Election at a time when she think she’s impervious’ plan to fall flat on its face. I, for one, wouldn’t be voting for a party that’s so detrimental to the NHS; not for all the shiny shoes in the PM’s Imelda Marcos-style shoe cabinet. I’ll be particularly annoyed if the Tories hold their seat in my local constituency when our candidate - who’s replaced the truly odious Peter Lilley - apparently lives in Kettering, which is over an hour’s drive away; not only this, but his Twitter biog has listed three different addresses in so many weeks (something he hasn’t acknowledged when pressed on the social media site by a number of people, including me). How well will he represent Hitch...
